Photography Workshop at Olvera Street, Los Angeles; Join our photography lessons at Olvera Street, a historic and culturally rich location among our rotation of excellent Los Angeles venues. The Plaza-Olvera Street area received designation as a California State Historic Landmark in 1953, making it a cherished part of Los Angeles' heritage.
A Living Museum of Mexican Culture:
Olvera Street functions as a living museum honoring a romantic vision of traditional Mexico. Colorful brick buildings enclose the historic street, while vendor stands showcase vibrant piñatas, decorative puppets in white peasant clothing, authentic Mexican pottery, traditional serapes, mounted bull horns, oversized sombreros, and other folk art. The street attracts nearly two million visitors annually, providing rich subject matter for diverse photographic styles and perspectives.
Meeting Location and Preparation:
This workshop meets at the Old Plaza Fire House on Olvera Street. Please bring your DSLR or your preferred camera model, a fully charged battery, and whatever equipment you can comfortably carry. Dress appropriately for current weather conditions, wear comfortable walking shoes, and bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated throughout the shoot.
Course Structure and Learning Approach:
Each Composition in the Field class begins with experienced instructor guidance, then moves into active exploration through various photogenic locations. The Digital Photo Academy encompasses 20+ cities with diverse subjects including street photography, magnificent interiors, farmers markets, zoos, and landscapes across the United States and Canada. You will enjoy the experience while learning to shoot strategically, capturing more engaging photographs and building foundational skills for improving your photography during travels, events, and daily life.
Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy:
If weather or circumstances beyond our control necessitate class cancellation, we will gladly help you reschedule. Should you need to cancel and require a new class date, contact us. A $25 transfer fee applies without three days notice before the scheduled class.
