In this course, you’ll create an abbreviated set of CAD construction documents for a real Habitat for Humanity project, working through floor plans, roof plans, foundation plans, electrical plans, and building elevations. The focus is on building efficient workflows by learning when and how to create, insert, link, and externally reference drawings. You’ll reinforce your core AutoCAD skills while expanding into more advanced applications, using real project data to understand how construction documents come together in practice.
Instruction emphasizes advanced AutoCAD commands and drafting conventions, specifically with layers and file management, external references, user coordinate systems, and dynamic viewing. You’ll develop intermediate-level skills such as creating and managing blocks, organizing model and layout environments, setting up sheet layouts, and plotting completed drawings. By the end of the course, you’ll have a clear understanding of best-practice workflows for producing coordinated, professional CAD construction documents.
