Investigate the distinctive qualities of the three gray family categories, cool grays, warm grays, and French grays, within this specialized colored pencil course. You'll begin by establishing solid colored pencil fundamentals that transfer across all artistic projects. The instructor teaches methods for developing sophisticated tonal ranges and visual depth using a structured, accessible progression. Perfect for artists who appreciate colored pencils but prefer working with grayscale values rather than full-color palettes. Upon finishing the course, you'll have completed multiple grayscale artwork pieces and earned a certificate recognizing your completion.

Course Structure: This course departs from the standard approach where students replicate the teacher's demonstration; each student pursues their own creative direction.

Prerequisite Skills: Successful completion of Online Drawing with Graphite 101 or demonstrated equivalent knowledge.

Remote Learning

This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.

Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.

Refund Policy

Tuition is not refundable.

When rescheduling a class a 3 business days notice in advance of the class is required or the class is forfeited.

The make-up class must be attended within the 30 days. A make-up cannot be rescheduled once booked.

No make-ups are given for no-shows or if you forget to come to class.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

  • Online Gray Colored Pencil 101

    Linda is a very helpful, entertaining, and knowledgeable instructor who manages to oversee a large number of disparate activities simultaneously. This format was new to me -- less overt instruction, each person doing their own project in different media -- and I'm not sure it's really efficient, but if anyone could make it work, Linda would be the one!
