Description

In this ceramics workshop participants will work with New York based artist, Anahit Pogosian, to create a pair of coffee cups and saucers for Armenian coffee (soorj).Using the pinching method of hand-building with minimal tools — we'll go over various techniques of working with clay without a wheel. Students will be encouraged to embrace imperfections while turning four balls of clay into objects of magnetic desire.

This is a family friendly event. All experience levels are welcome, no experience is necessary and all ages are encouraged to join! This workshop will be suited for those who are curious about working with clay for the first time and those with various levels of experience who would like to create in a communal, playful and supportive space.

Students will have the opportunity to decorate their pieces within the workshop using underglaze (colored pigments). All pieces will be glazed by the studio, making them dishwasher and microwave safe. All students work will be fired to cone 5 and will be ready for pick up within 3 weeks of the commencement of the workshop.
