Class Description
Description
What you'll learn in this painting class:
Students will learn how to paint a portrait, or further develop their skills by oil painting for form, design, and color. Three days will concentrate on the values, the subtlety of form, how to get a likeness, and refining edges. The fourth class students get to put it all together while working from life.
The last class also includes painting in front of a model.
These classes are taught by professional artists who have fine arts degrees. Instructors can provide students with as much information as they seek, so asking questions is highly recommended.
When you decide to take a class with us, you may want to consider the following:
- Choice of medium
- Select a subject, portrait, figurative, representational abstract you want to create or we can suggest ideas with you
- Discover some of your favorite artists and artwork
- Assess how much you know and what more you want to know
- Decide how important it is by how much time you can commit
What are classes like?
- Project based: small, medium, or large projects
- Any level of experience, from beginner to advanced
- Learn the elements of art, techniques, and mediums
- A sanctuary for creating, socializing, and collaborating
- Create portfolio, gallery work, or commission work
Studio supplies are available for class use, optional $5 fee (some exclusions apply).
Enrolling in the Monthly package (4 sessions) insures 1 makeup class.

- Canvas pad, panels, stretched
- Optional sizes: 8×10, 11×14, 12×16, up to 16×20
- Oil Paint, professional grade recommended
- Colors: White, Yellow, Red, and Blue.
- Flake or Titanium White,

- Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue
- Palette
- Masterson Plastic Palette Box w/palette paper or glass

- Airtight Turp Container
- The Art Studio discourages the use of solvents but if necessary, odorless mineral spirits are tolerated in an airtight container.
- Age refined Linseed Oil
- Or gel medium like Rublev Oleogel, or Gamblin Solvent Free Gel
- Palette Knife
- diamond shape for mixing paint
- Paper Towels (cloth-like: Viva or blue shop towels)
Refund Policy
- Tuition is not refundable but may be transferred to a class of equal value within 3 weeks
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
