This project teaches you to drill down into sales performance and identify trends or outliers – skills useful in roles like sales analyst or business analyst.
Marketing Campaign Analysis: Given marketing data (ad spends, click-through rates, conversions), students create visualizations to measure campaign effectiveness across channels. The project might involve connecting data from multiple sources (e.g. Google Analytics and sales data) and using Tableau to illustrate the customer journey funnel. This reflects real marketing analytics work.
Financial KPI Dashboard: Working with financial data (income statements, budgets, etc.), you design a dashboard for a CFO that visualizes key performance indicators. You might show actual vs. target revenues, expenses breakdowns, or cash flow over time. This project hones your ability to present insights for decision-making in finance, with an emphasis on clarity and accuracy.
Customer Analytics Report: Using e-commerce customer data, you might create segments of customers and visualize their purchasing behavior. For instance, a project could involve clustering customers by demographics or purchase frequency and building a story points presentation in Tableau to recommend marketing strategies for each segment.
Operations or Logistics Dashboard: An example project could use supply chain data (shipment times, delivery volumes, etc.) to create a dashboard for operations managers. You would map out logistics routes, identify bottlenecks with heat maps or highlight tables, and suggest improvements. This project simulates how data visualization assists in operational efficiency.
