This is the water discovery class. This class focuses on basic swimming mechanics and prepares young swimmers for independent lessons. The goals are to be comfortable and able to enjoy the water while learning basic safety and swimming skills. This 30 minute class prepares swimmers to transition to lessons without parents in the water.
For children who can swim 10 yards on the front, back and side with flotation and 5 feet without any flotation. Children must also be comfortable putting their faces in the water. Swimmers will explore submersion, floating, swimming, and water entry in this 30 minute class.
This class includes basic swimming skills including arm and leg movement, breath control, balance, gliding, floating, and safety rules. A variety of instructional flotation devices are used to encourage independent or assisted practice. This 30 minute class is preparation for further independent swimming!
Designed for the child who has completed a 401-level class or is assessed accordingly. Children will work on developing their technique and endurance in all four competitive strokes. 1:5 instructor-to-student ratio.
