Whimsy by Kelly- Kelly Barone

I’m an artist and art educator in Buffalo, New York, and the person behind Whimsy by Kelly. I’ve spent years teaching watercolor, botanical drawing, lettering and Zentangle, and I’ve now taught more than 5,000 students, from preschoolers to people in their 90s.

Botanicals are probably my greatest love. I’ve written three books about drawing them, and I love taking something that looks complicated and breaking it down into simple, approachable steps. I also love teaching watercolor because there’s always something a little unexpected about what paint and water will do together.

A class with me is relaxed and conversational. I’ll show you what I’m doing, explain why I’m doing it, and walk you through it one little piece at a time. You can ask questions, make mistakes, change your mind and make the project your own. I’m much more interested in helping you enjoy making art and build confidence in your own skills than in having everyone leave with something that looks exactly like mine.

You don’t need to arrive already knowing how to draw or paint. Just come ready to try.
