The Writers Studio, founded in 1987 by Philip Schultz, offers ongoing writing workshops for both beginner and experienced fiction writers and poets. With a focus on nurturing individual voices, The Writers Studio believes that anyone can learn the craft of writing and express themselves creatively.
Founded in 1987 by Philip Schultz, The Writers Studio welcomes beginning and experienced fiction writers and poets to ongoing writing workshops designed to help them discover and nurture their own voices. Hailed by The New York Times as "the most personal of the programs," The Writers Studio is founded on the belief that when the desire to write is strong enough, anyone can learn the craft necessary for full creative expression.
For the past 30 years The Writers Studio has developed a unique approach to teaching writing by encouraging students "to try on voices" and attempt a variety of different narrative techniques as a way of discovering their own material and personal voices. Students take a single 10-week workshop, or continue through a series of increasingly challenging classes designed to help them reach their full potential.

I did like the instructor and the writing prompts, and the positive critical feedback that others in the class provided about writing samples. I did not prefer the chat format over the Zoom format though.

It was a truly amazing class and I'm so glad I took a leap of faith and signed up for it. Scott Hunter was a great instructor, extremely friendly, accommodating and always allowed the conversations and discussion to flow smoothly in a manner that was informative, insightful, critical and encouraging.
