  • Intro to Perfumery: A Primer

I thought it was very informative! Perfumery is a science! I think I was expecting something a little less technical, but that's not the fault of the course, more my lack of understanding of the perfumery process. The instructor was very knowledgeable and I thought he did a great job.

What a perfect class!! Daisy was such a knowledgeable teacher - we got to smell perfumes from throughout history. The discussion was top-notch! I’ll definitely be back

It was so informative and fun in unexpected ways. I'm someone who really enjoys the who/what/why/where/how behind things. I deeply enjoy wearing perfume and using it as a method of self expression. The class both deepens your knowledge and also expands it; I've found myself trying new scents and looking at perfumes with a more critical eye on sourcing and price. The conversation in the class was fantastic, both due to the classmates and the instructor. You don't make perfume in this class, but if you don't take this class, making perfume if you don't understand the process would be pointless. I particularly enjoyed the section around learning how to build a scent - the base, the middle, the foreground. If you enjoy perfume and would like to expand your scent palette, take this class.
  • Material Modules: Citrus & Aldehydes

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I recently attended the "Material Modules: Citrus & Aldehydes" class with Fragrance Alliance Network on July 27, 2024, and it was an incredible experience. The instructor, Gus Romero, was knowledgeable and engaging, making complex topics easy to understand. I also want to extend my gratitude to Michael C. Long, Ph.D., for his invaluable help and insights throughout the training. I learned so much, and the price of the course was unbeatable considering the wealth of knowledge provided. We definitely got more than what we paid for. I highly recommend this class to anyone interested in learning more about perfumery and raw materials.I am definitely using what I’ve learned to provide better fragrance reviews and I know is just getting better and better for me,maybe I deep dive into perfume creation ? • Intro to Fragrance Evaluation

In short, this course was way overpriced. I really liked the presenter, but I have some constructive criticism that can hopefully be used to improve the experience going forward: -There was really poor time management and it was clear it hadn’t been run through beforehand. The lecture, although interesting, took the entirety of the two hours. It went an hour over to get to the actual smelling & evaluating part, and there was supposed to be a painting section that we never got to do. It felt super rushed, which was really disappointing since this is what I was most excited for. -They desperately need a projector (you can get very affordable ones online) instead of presenting on a small laptop screen to the group. -You walk away with very little. A few handouts and some blotters. It would be great to walk away with some of the samples of notes to practice, especially for the price paid. What really irritated me was that a book was shown and discussed in the class but not provided to us. I looked it up and it’s only $10 on Amazon. This is a material that should be provided for the class! -The lecturer/presenter should provide a printed copy of the presentation, as well as an outline of the course overview at the top of the class. It would help with the time management issue and prevent class takers from asking questions that will be answered shortly in the presentation.
