Class Description

Description

This Supported Scaffold User Training online course provides a thorough introduction to the safe use of supported scaffolds in construction environments. The course covers the essential elements of supported scaffold safety, including scaffold types and components, the most common hazards associated with supported scaffolds, and an emphasis on hazard recognition, fall protection, scaffold inspection, and appropriate emergency response.

Local Law 196 introduced expanded training requirements for construction and demolition workers in all five boroughs. In addition to the required training hours, workers and supervisors must obtain the appropriate Site Safety Training (SST) card to demonstrate compliance.

As of June 1, 2019, workers must complete a total of 40 hours of training, including the 8-Hour Fall Prevention course and the 2-Hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness course. Supervisors must complete a total of 60 hours, which includes the 4 Hour Supported Scaffold User and Refresher class as one of the required components.
