In this weekend intensive you will learn and practice Laban's vocabulary in action. Participants will learn to describe movement in detail and lead students in a movement experience. We will explore systems of reference, spatial directions, actions, space measurement, paths, and dynamics. Having a full vocabulary at your fingertips will help to improve your observation and communication skills.
Reading will be assigned before the start of the course so that all participants begin with a fundamental understanding of the concepts of the workshop.
Through the weekend you will learn how to:
- Increase your movement observation skills
- Learn how to better describe movements using the Laban framework
- Apply your new language skills to describing movement and in guiding people through movement
- Learn at least 3 ways to describe the same movement
