Ned brings extensive experience in animation production, voice directing, and casting. He served as Producer, Voice Director, and Casting Director with Walt Disney Studios on seven Studio Ghibli titles, including Hayao Miyazaki's Oscar-nominated theatrical release "Howl's Moving Castle" starring Christian Bale. His casting accomplishments also include bringing Liam Neeson to voice "Aslan" in "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe."
This Level II class continues from where the first course concluded, focusing on advanced auditioning skills for animation voice-over work across video games and full-length animated feature projects.
Working with Ned, you will develop techniques for voicing multiple characters within the same project, exploring age variance, vocal variety, and meaningful contrast between characters. You'll also learn when and how to incorporate improvisation effectively.
The class includes casting exercises where half the participants audition for the same characters while the other half makes casting decisions, giving you insight into both sides of the casting process.
You'll also master "Directing Yourself" techniques, preparing and recording a script in advance. During class, everyone's recordings will be played and reviewed with Ned providing detailed feedback. Ned will then direct everyone again, offering additional direction to refine your performance.
Prerequisite: You must complete Ned's Level 1 ANIMATION VOICE-OVER 3-Week Online Class: Casting Exercises and Direct Yourself Techniques before enrolling in this Level 2 Advanced Animation Class.
