Day 1: Snowy Escapade – The Frosty Maze
- Objective: Create a maze game where a character navigates a snowy forest to find gifts.
- Learning Focus: Movement controls, boundaries, and sprite interactions.
- Activities:
- Design a snowy maze background.
- Program a character to move using keyboard controls.
- Add obstacles like snowdrifts and rewards like hidden gifts.
Day 2: Winter Wonders – Quiz Quest
- Objective: Develop a winter-themed quiz game with animated transitions and sound effects.
- Learning Focus: Creating questions, tracking scores, and adding dynamic feedback.
- Activities:
- Write questions about winter traditions around the world.
- Code animations for correct and incorrect answers.
- Add fun sound effects like jingles and cheers.
Day 3: Ornament Dash – Decorate and Dash!
- Objective: Build a timed challenge where players collect ornaments and decorate a tree.
- Learning Focus: Timer mechanics, cloning, and conditional logic.
- Activities:
- Code ornaments to randomly fall and be “caught” by a player.
- Track collected ornaments and allow them to be placed on a tree.
- Introduce challenges like moving obstacles or limited time.
Day 4: Festive Fireworks – Light Up the Sky
- Objective: Design an interactive fireworks display to celebrate the New Year.
- Learning Focus: Randomization, loops, and visual effects.
- Activities:
- Program fireworks to appear at random locations.
- Add colorful explosions triggered by clicks.
- Include a “Happy New Year” banner with sparkling animations.
Day 5: Holiday Showstopper – Create and Share Your Masterpiece
- Objective: Let students refine their favorite project and present it creatively.
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
