Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this mixed media class:

Experiment with a variety of mediums in combination with various types of surfaces. Students can use Graphite, Gouache, Watercolor, Oil paint and Colored Pencils in this class. The surface directly influences mark making whether your style is traditional or contemporary. Many different artists used mixed media such as Degas, Romare Bearden, Jasper John, Jim Dine, and Rauschenberg just to name a few. The combinations are endless, but the basic idea is to combine and layer materials to create unique works.

Students will work closely with the instructor through zoom, email and FaceTime.

Remote Learning

This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.

Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.

School Notes:

Please note, New York School of the Arts charges a $50 one-time registration fee for students who are new to their school. This is automatically added to the cost of your enrollment (and already included in the price listed on this course). Do not feel this class was for beginners Had no direction at all. Did not know what I was doing or had any guidance. Should not be for beginners

Michelle was a fantastic teacher. She was what made the class. There was lots of personal hands on help as the enrollment was pretty low. I also must say I enjoyed the extra space in the room due to the low enrollment but I am sure that will all change as word of the school gets out there.

Question from Cheryl
Do I have to bring my own supplies? Is each class devoted to a different medium?
Answer from Alex V. Verified Educator
Hi, Yes, this class has a materials list where students can see what supplies they need to bring: https://static1.squarespace.com/static/599888b2e45a7ccab719d42c/t/59f8e186109526b0d471e193/1509482886667/Michele+Liebler+-+Mixed+Media+works+on+Paper+-+Material+List.pdf The class does not cover specific mediums in each class. Rather, this is a hands-on class where students can explore creating art using different mediums with the guidance of an experienced instructor.
