Mend it Monday (Denim Only)

This class is for anyone who wants to learn how to do their own denim (jean pants, shorts, skirts, overalls, dresses, shirts, etc.) HEM alterations.

At the end of this sewing class, you will be able to:

• Match threads to your current garment
• Learn about the appropriate needles to use for your project
• Learn tips to making denim hems a breeze to shorten
• Learn to shorten your denim project, or add length using scrap denim, corduroy, flannel or lace (you will need to provide the materials you wish to add length to your project)

Please note: This is NOT an upcycle class. You will NOT be making a new garment out of a pair of jeans in this class.

Class Materials

• tape measure
• fabric shears
• thread snips or embroidery scissors
• straight pins
• fabric weights
• tracing paper
• tracing wheel
• Simplicity sewing pattern for your project
• fabric for your project
• thread to match your project
• sewing machine needles (Schmetz, or Singer)
• Any zipper, or closure for your project (if needed)
• any interfacing for your project
• Any buttons, or other trims needed for your project
