If you know how to thread a needle and follow a basic sewing pattern, off-loom bead weaving will have familiar techniques. But don't worry--these classes are designed to get you started regardless of prior experience with a needle!
Students will Learn: - Students choose one stitch from the five basic stitches: Brick, Ndebele (herringbone), peyote, right angle weave or square stitch. The stitch being taught is determined by the group at the start of the class--the instructor is pretty flexible.
- The basic flat pattern for the chosen stitch; variations will be taught as time permits
- Tips for threading a needle and following a seed bead pattern
- Various ways to finish seed bead projects and attach clasps
- How to add thread for a seed bead project
Students will need beading needles (size 10 or smaller is fine) and thread. We carry Nymo, KO, and Fireline threads. There is time during class for selecting beads as well.
Students do not usually complete a project but spend time learning the basics of the stitch they have selected and variations if time permits. However, students often have a good start for a bracelet that can be finished at home.
Please note that materials are extra. Students may bring their own seed beads or purchase materials at he shop.
