Note: This is primarily a lecture class.

Do you freeze when you hear the word “structure”? Wonder why your second act is sagging? Crafting your novel’s story is a tall order for anyone and without firm footing, your feet are as good as clay. Whether you’re writing an angsty teen romantasy, space thriller or literary coming-of-age story, there’s a set of basic writing principles to get you to “the end.” In this one-day structure clinic, award-winning author Jennifer Brody (21 novels) will help you apply the scribe’s toolset and give your tale a rock solid spine plus compelling arcs.

Through an informative craft lecture, you’ll learn the essential elements of a great yarn such as beats and turns that propel your story forward to keep your audience on the edge of their seat. By the end of class, you will have learned the essential elements that will get you to a satisfying story.

Before you know it, you will be ready to join the ranks of the 34 students who have published books after after taking class with us.

Remote Learning

This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.

Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.

Refund Policy

All sales are final and there are no refunds.

Credit may be offered based on class availability. If you can’t come to class, call or email us as far in advance as possible. We will do everything we can to fill your spot, but we can’t make any guarantees. Credit eligibility is not based upon your reason for being unable to attend a class; it is based upon the timing of your credit request and our ability to fill your spot. If we find someone to take your place, you will receive class credit minus a $25 processing fee for 1 day classes and $50 processing fee for long classes. In that case, your class credit will be good for a year from the original sign up date and will expire after that. Otherwise, you will forfeit your payment/payments.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
