How to Start Your Fashion Company: Design Your Line

Michelle was a dream come true! She was thorough and really knows her stuff when it comes to starting a fashion line. She gets real with you on what it takes to actually venture into running a successful business, from writing a business plan to funding and other fundamentals. I'm local in NYC and she provided many resources, as well as resources specific to the brand I am looking to start. I would recommend this class to anyone who is starting to venture into starting their own line and needs some guidance.

How to start your fashion company design your own line was the class that filled in all the gaps! I have always been designing my own clothes and getting so many compliments on them. I had no idea how to make this a business. This class explained how in easy bites. I loved the teacher and wish I could have met him in person. He has so much passion for what’s he’s doing. Take how to start your fashion company and you won’t be sorry!

Great insider info that I use right away and start taking the next steps with confidence. Grateful for the class.

I believe that this class is for someone who knows nothing about business 101. I do not think this should be a pre-requisite to any other classes especially if your already business savvy. I was kinda disappointed to see that it wasnt more organized and so simple. I was disappointed that it seemed like a principals was bunched together in a small amount of time for $225. Theories explained seemed more so off the top of head not concisely put. Fashion is anal. And i came expecting that. Although if you come with a ton of questions she will answer but again, its not alot of time. My suggestions for all newbies go to a free business workshop first. Learn everything you can about a business plans, financing, marketing fashion specifically. Have questions, ideas, samples and financing ready. If not your better off paying the consulting fee when you’re ready to launch and asking all questions then. The manufacturing process is also intense and i do suggest taking that class especially when you dont know anything at all. But again I give it three stars because it could have been so much more to it had the claas been more time to go over everything. I actually am taking another one. Even if we didnt have alot of time, a more written detailed reference would suffice especially for those who dont have the experience.

This class was phenomenal for a variety of levels, whether brand new or with previous study and experience. I learned a lot and have an action plan for my next steps, plus the support of Michelle for my future questions. She encouraged us to call, email, and invite her to our launches! I look forward to taking another of her classes or using her consulting services as my business develops.

Michelle was amazing, a real fashion industry professional. I learned so much from this course, highly recommend it if you are looking to learn about the fashion industry. As an artist, I had no concept of what is needed to create clothes - and now I have the resources and know-how! There were also some folks in the class that were ready to launch a line and they seemed to enjoy the class as well. I also took the next class back-to-back and the transition was excellent. Come prepared with questions and an open mind.

Michelle was detail oriented. She went and explained all topics in the class agenda and answered all questions. The handouts were great information. She used real life scenarios in explaining examples. I would definitely recommend this class to friends.

Great class! There were only five students, so there was a lot of room to ask questions and get individualized advice. The instructor was very personable and knowledgeable. As a total beginner, I learned a TON and came out feeling much more confident and better equipped to get started with my business idea - and knowing that a lot of the things I didn't learn in this session could be learned in M Shop's other classes, which is super helpful! I definitely recommend that any aspiring fashion entrepreneur take this class.
