Saturday, Apr 13th, 11am–1pm Eastern Time
Hone your skills as a stand-up comic in an exciting hands-on workshop designed for both the absolute beginner as well as those already showcasing around town. The class culminates with a graduation show at the Comedy Store, the World Famous Improv Comedy Club or another venue.
Learn all the techniques the pros use for joke writing, finding your comic personae and POV, and making the best choices for connecting with an audience. We’ll also discuss developing a sitcom and other projects that can bring your comedy to the attention of the entertainment industry at large.
Due to the remote live format, some features of the course maybe substituted at the instructor's discretion. *Be advised, the graduation show for SUCWS is NOT held on the final day of class. It is held on the weekend two or three weeks after the last day of class. It is held on either a Saturday afternoon or evening, or a Sunday afternoon or evening.
Students must be 18 years of age to participate in the graduation show.
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
Students with any valid US address may enroll in online/remote classes.
Santa Monica College's Community Education Office operates from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday, excluding weekends and holidays. No cancellations after a class has begun, so choose courses carefully!
Some high demand classes, such as Glass Fusing and Good Times Travel day trips, have separate and different refund policies stating that all registrations are final, and no refunds, credits, or transfers will be given. Please bear that in mind when registering for those classes.
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
