Teens Absolute Beginner Classical & Spanish/Flamenco Guitar

This class is for absolute beginners to guitar. We teach the fundamentals and basics of guitar in this class. We start from the absolute beginning. We focus on technique and sound. Students will learn these basics and fundamentals via the style of classical guitar mixed with strumming in the style of spanish flamenco guitar. Students will learn to play classical guitar and basic chords as well. We have lots of success with this class and find it to be a great way to begin learning the guitar. Students will be taught to play the guitar with their right hand fingers (aka fingerstyle) and not with a pic. The repertoire we teach include waltzes, milongas, rumbas and melodic etudes (studies/scales).

Students are given a score for every song taught in class. At the end of each class students are offered to film their instructor playing what was taught in class at a slow tempo and at goal tempo for home practice reference.

New York Guitar Academy provides Guitars (Electric and Acoustic) for all students to use during all of their active classes. For home practice, we have an on-site in-studio guitar store that specializes in renting and selling quality instruments.

Students will have the opportunity to perform at our biannual student show.
