How does our government work? What is the Senate and the House of Representatives? How do they work together and what is the president’s role in all this? How does local government and state government work?
Come answer these and so many more questions in this semester-long class. Students will study all this in an interactive class situation with a lot of discussions, projects, activities, games, presentations, and more.
This class will go beyond just introducing government to discuss cross-cultural variation in political organization, the implications of globalization on different groups, and the differences globally in such things as law and order. We will, for instance, learn about the Code of Hammurabi right alongside trials by ordeal, ridicule and gossip, and the death penalty. We will discuss nation-states and their impact on pastoral and hunger-gatherer people, as well as the environment and learn the basics of democracies, republics, and more!
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
Students have 2 weeks to try out a class to make sure it's a good fit. If they don't email us by the end of the second week, they are automatically enrolling for the entire session. If they decide to drop a class after attending, they will only be charged for the sessions they attended.
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
