Class Description

Description

Explore the distinct characteristics of this ancient pink and copper-hued grape variety and discover why the same grape has multiple identities across regions.

Called Gris in some regions and Grigio in others, you'll learn the fascinating differences between these expressions. Study the grape's origins, genetic heritage, climate preferences, flavor profile, and the global regions where it grows best. Engage in blind tastings of different examples of Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio from multiple countries and regions across the globe, ranging from delicate and dry to full-bodied and sweet. Travel from Alto Adige to Alsace, sampling New World and Old World expressions in between. As you taste, you'll discover how the varietal profile emerges differently based on varying soils, climates, and elevations of each production region.

This class offers valuable insights for Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio enthusiasts, and is essential for wine professionals and those preparing for certification examinations. A guided blind tasting of six wines is included with your registration.
