What you'll learn in this sewing & textile class:
Get ready for your newest craft addiction! Learn beginner punch needle techniques as you design and make your own abstract wall hangings in this fun and relaxing virtual workshop hosted via Zoom!
In this class you'll learn:
- How to thread and punch with an Oxford Punch Needle
- How to select the right yarn for your project
- How to work with monks cloth
- How to create different textures
- How to apply traditional techniques to create a modern wall hanging
You'll work on a small wall hanging (approximately 8") and gain the know-how to create more pieces on your own! The skills learned can also be used to make pillows, rugs, and more!
Materials needed for the project are listed below. If you don't have these materials on hand, simply add-on the supply bundle above!
- #8 Oxford Punch Needle
- Monks Cloth
- Embroidery Hoop
- Yarn in a variety of weights and colors (supply bundles will include mystery colors! If you're purchasing your own yarn, please be advised that Crazy Sexy Wool and Cascade Magnum/ Magnum Tweed are too chunky for this punch needle. All of our other yarns are good to go!)
Household items needed (not included in supply bundle):
- Scissors
Remote Learning
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
Refund Policy
We do not issue refunds on workshop registrations.
- If you register for a workshop and later become unable to attend, we will gladly offer a credit if you notify us at least 5 business days before the workshop.
- We are unable to offer credits of any kind, or honor reschedule requests, with less than 5 business days advance notice.
In fairness to all of our customers, we are unable to make exceptions to our policy, including for reasons of illness or travel. If you are unable to attend a workshop at the last minute, we suggest giving your spot to a friend!
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

Great class. Instructor was great! Excellent introductory class. I hope there is an intermediate class since I was having trouble and would like to have shown the instructor my work so she could advise me how to be more consistent. I really appreciate the zoom platform, however, since I would not have been able to travel to take the class.

The class was very fun and relaxed, but I wish there was more emphasis on technique. A lot of it was open time to work, but I would have liked to see more examples of some of the things we could do with punch needle. I am really enjoying my piece that I finished!
Also if you are going to the class they will have yarn for you, but bear in mind that if you are not able to finish in time they won't let you take the yarn with you. I thought that part was a bummer as had I known I would have done certain colors first since I have some other plain yarns at home.
