This introductory drawing course is structured for students with no prior experience. You will develop a foundational understanding of core artistic concepts and begin building essential drawing proficiency. The instruction starts with fundamental knowledge about the materials you'll be using, including pencil and charcoal, and their potential applications.
You'll examine and apply design elements and principles through practical exercises covering point, line, value, shape, form (volume), and texture, in addition to composition, balance, rhythm, and symmetry. The curriculum includes learning measuring techniques to achieve accurate proportions, understanding three-dimensional space within two dimensions through one-point and two-point perspective and foreshortening, and studying classical depth-creating methods such as atmospheric perspective.
This introductory course focuses on drawing fundamentals and does not include color studies. You will receive detailed materials information by email upon registration.
