Foxtrot & ChaCha

Are you interested in sampling different styles of dancing? Join us for our weekly Drop-In Ballroom and Club Dance Sampler Class.  

In the Level I Drop-In class, you’ll learn the basic steps and a turn or two in two different styles. 

In the Level II Drop-In class, you'll build your repertoire with additional turns and variations in these same dances. 

About Foxtrot and ChaCha: 

The foxtrot is a smooth, progressive dance characterized by long, continuous flowing movements across the dance floor. It is danced to big band (usually vocal) music. The dance is similar in its look to waltz. Developed in the 1910s, the foxtrot reached its height of popularity in the 1930s, and remains practiced today.

The cha cha should be a very cheeky, sassy dance and quite fast with your feet. The dancers should be lively and interplay should be strong, though independent. Eye contact is important throughout the dance, and conveys the sexual tension between dancers.

Attire: Wear whatever you feel comfortable dancing in! We encourage you to wear shoes with a smooth sole that aren't too heavy.

Partners: Partners are not necessary, as we rotate partners in the class.  If you prefer to come with and dance only with a partner, you are absolutely invited to do so.
