Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this architecture class:

The Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) is an architecture framework for the United States Department of Defense that provides structure for a specific stakeholder concern through viewpoints organized by various views.

DoDAF defines a set of views that act as mechanisms for visualizing, understanding, and assimilating the broad scope and complexities of an architecture description through tabular, structural, behavioral, ontological, pictorial, temporal or graphical means.

It is especially suited to large systems with complex integration and interoperability challenges, and is apparently unique in its use of operational views detailing the external customer's operating domain in which the developing system will operate.

Course Overview: This 4 day course gives our comprehensive methodology to create operational, technical, and systems architecture views and products consistent with the DoDAF and DoD procurement and acquisition guidelines. Students will apply DoDAF compliance concepts, models and principles to design their own compliant system
Intended Audience:
Everybody interested in the terms, concepts and practice of architecture. Especially software architects looking for a senior role.
  • Enterprise Architect
  • Business Architects
  • IT Architects
  • Information Architects
  • Technology Architects
  • Application Architects
  • System Integrators
  • Solution Architects
Prerequisites:There are no prerequisites for this course.

Course Outline:

Day 1

Day 1 Overview
I2-T UAV Program Case Study
A case study and applied methodology (workflow) approach to establish a DoDAF 2.0 compliant architecture for the I2-T Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) System. The course utilizes web-based DoDAF modeling toolsets and an EA repository for saving and querying architecture work.
Focus of the Advanced Applied Course is on students building the actual I2-T UAV Architecture using an EA methodology that is tied to the DoDAF 6 Step Process. In addition, the Advanced Applied course contains EA analysis and reporting course modules, which highlights the deliverables and output that support DoD processes, governance and reporting.
Each Module review illustrates the connectivity and purpose of the DoDAF models and viewpoints, and graphically shows what has been accomplished through visualization, analysis and querying results from the EA repository.
