What To Know Before Registering:
We are a small, specialized process art and STEM studio focused on hands-on learning. We don't have a separate outdoor space, though we do incorporate some stretching, dance, and movement activities during the camp day. Our limited physical space directly impacts our scheduling approach, which is why our camp is not the length of a full school day and why we do not generally offer extended daycare services.
When you walk into our studio, what you see is what you get. Because we don't have separate rooms or other distinct spaces for campers to work independently, we have the expectation that kids of all ages work and collaborate together on projects in our shared creative space.
We acknowledge that 5-10 is indeed a wide age range. However, we have designed our projects and scaffolded our instruction carefully so that a 5-6-year-old and a 9-10-year-old can successfully complete the same project together. We rarely separate students in our studio by age group, preferring mixed-age collaboration.
Our older students can dive a bit deeper into a project or engage with more complex elements and challenges, while our younger students benefit tremendously from seeing the skills, techniques, and behavior of our older campers modeled and demonstrated for them. As veteran classroom teachers with 25+ years of combined experience, we see firsthand the indelible value and benefits of kids in this age range working and learning together collaboratively.
If mixed-age learning does not sound appealing to you or your child, or if you are specifically looking for something catered to a very particular and narrow age range, please consider all of this thoughtfully before registering.
