Holiday Special At US Botanic Gardenns! | Washington Photo Safari

Come join architectural photographer E. David Luria as he guides you through the G-gauge train exhibit on the outside of the Conservatory. The trains will circulate through displays of pollinators made from plant parts. The scenes will range from oversize models of U.S. native flowers, butterflies, bats and hummingbirds to an orchid bee pollinating a vanilla orchid flower, a chocolate midge pollinating a cacao flower, a lemur pollinating a traveler’s tree flower and more!

The spectacular plant-based models of the US Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Washington Monument – in addition to more than 15 other landmarks – will also be displayed inside the conservatory.

Mr. Luria will show you the best angles for picture-taking with your camera or smart phone. For clients with cameras that have adjustable shutter speeds, Mr. Luria will show you how to do “whoosh and streak” photographs of a moving train that keeps the train in sharp focus while giving a blur to the background scenes the train is passing! He will also help you capture the priceless look of joy and awe on the faces of children as they watch the exhibit.

Any camera or smart phone is acceptable for this safari, no tripods. Dress warmly, this is an outdoor display! Accompanying spouses, partners and children are welcome to come along at no extra charge.

At the conclusion of this safari we will then walk across the street and photograph the US Capitol in the deep blue sky of twilight.
