Class Description

Description

After providing instruction on foundational nighttime photography techniques, instructor E. David Luria will lead you through the most picturesque locations along the western National Mall. Starting at the Lincoln Memorial with its iconic statue of President Lincoln, you'll walk the length of the Mall photographing the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the Three Servicemen Statue, and the Vietnam Women's Memorial.

At every location during this photography experience, David will review exposure settings, techniques for capturing night scenes without flash photography, white balance adjustments, and composition strategies that reveal the profound meaning and beauty of each memorial and statue. These landmarks are particularly photogenic during evening hours compared to daytime, and this guided session helps you create stunning, museum-quality images of America's capital. These techniques work beautifully for black and white photography as well.

What to Bring:

  • A digital camera or capable photography equipment
  • A sturdy tripod for stable night photography
  • A lens with a focal length range from 18 to 100 millimeters
