Discover how Gilliam transformed abstraction by merging painting with sculpture, redefining the canvas itself

Explore the innovative world of Sam Gilliam in this dynamic workshop where texture, movement, and color collide. 

Inspired by Gilliam’s revolutionary rake paintings and his soak-stain drape paintings, you’ll experiment with unique techniques to create layered, sculptural works that push the boundaries of traditional painting. In this hands-on workshop, participants will use tools like rakes, scrapers, and squeegees to create textured surfaces to create Gilliam-inspired abstract paintings. Or, they may use the soak-stain technique to create tie-dye-like, 

Create Your Own Masterpiece: Let your intuition guide you as you design a dynamic, color-forward work of art that reflects your personal style.

Tickets includes art history lesson, all art materials and coveralls to protect your clothing.
