What you'll learn in this casting class:

Have you seen someone wearing resin jewelry and thought how you would love to make some for yourself, family, friends and possibly even to sell on Etsy to make some extra cash!?!

When you take this introductory one-day class you will walk away with 10 - 20 resin 'jewels' and pieces of wearable jewelry. Best of all you will know everything you need to know to keep on making them at home!

Prerequisites: No prerequisites or experience necessary
Age Requirements: 12 and older

What you will make in this class:
Your tuition price includes all the supplies, materials and tools you will need to make:
10-20 'Mold Cast' resin jewels
Which you will then turn into your choice of the following jewelry items:

Earrings
Pendants
Brooches
Rings
Magnets

The skills you will learn in this class:

How to create 'Mold Cast' Resin Jewelry: Small resin castings in which you can include/embed glitters, pigments, dyes, charms, stickers, candy, etc.
These resin 'jewels' can then be easily turned into a wide variety of jewelry, decorations and so much more.
The Safety procedures for using two part epoxy resins.
Proper mixing techniques and how to add a variety of pigments, dyes, glitter, and other additives to your resin.
How to prepare open-face molds, and proper casting and doming techniques.
How to embed items in your resin jewelry like stickers, charms, beads, candy, flowers, etc.
Finishing your resin pieces for a professional look.
Adding findings to your castings to turn the resin jewels into pendants, hook earrings, post earrings, brooches, and magnets.

Recommended items to bring with you:

Clothes: Pants, close-toed shoes & long sleves. These should be items you don't mind getting dirty i.e. old clothes or 'work' clothes
If you have long hair, bring a hat or other hair accessories to keep you hair up and preferably covered to keep from accidentally getting resin or other material in your hair.

Decorative items to embed in your jewelry: no larger than 3/4in x 3/4in x 1/4 in (for the largest piece), but the smaller the better. Smaller items will fit into a larger variety of molds. These can include charms, beads, candy, tiny flowers/petals, small stickers, small photographs, sketches, artwork, ink jet print-outs, watch gears, etc.
A lunch or snack (there will be a 30 min break half way through the class)

Your Instructor: Jonathan Hyman
Jonathan has been sculpting, moldmaking and casting in silicones, rubbers, plastics and metals for over 15 years, and 3D Modeling and 3D Printing for over 7 years. He uses these skills to create everything from costume accessories to car parts including: silicone Halloween masks, theater/film props, FX makeup appliances, resin jewelry, custom car & motorcycle parts, scale models and toys, just to name a few. He currently runs two businesses that create custom and made-to-order products: PansDevilHorns.com and PartsRevival.com. Ultimately, his true passion is teaching and inspiring people to embrace their creative side so they can make amazing things to brighten and improve their own lives and the lives of the people around them.

If you cannot attend a course as planned, you may transfer to the same class on a different date, or receive a credit voucher applicable to any other classes. Requests for withdrawal from a class must be submitted in writing or via email to [email protected] at least 5 business days prior to the start date of the class. Requests for withdrawals from a class or workshop less than 5 business days before the first day of class will incur an additional $15 service charge. Credits may be applied toward the cost of any future uMakerIt class or workshop within the next two years from date of issue. Refunds will be given if a class is cancelled, discontinued or rescheduled. uMakerIt and Morphic Enterprises, LLC reserve the right to change class locations, schedules and instructors, as required and will do our best to update you of these changes as quickly as possible.

This is an outstanding introductory resin class. The instructor Jonathan provides a fun and relaxing environment, and most important, he provides excellent instructions and information for working with resin. He was able to answer all questions and clarify any misunderstandings. I would recommend this class to anyone who would like to work with resin for business or fun. I look forward to taking his intermediate class in the future.
