Throughout the class, you will learn professional strategies for composing visually compelling nighttime images and capturing the luminous colors that emerge when artificial lighting transforms urban landscapes into visual art.
Your photographic explorations will take you to Georgetown's iconic landmarks, including the architecturally significant Kennedy Center and historic Key Bridge, where you'll compose images featuring their elegant reflections dancing across the Potomac River's waters. You will then wander through the neighborhood's historic streets and storefronts, each illuminated by the romantic glow of vintage street lighting design. Along the energetic shopping and dining district encompassing M Street and Wisconsin Avenue, you will capture striking neon signage with its vivid colors and patterns, plus execute long exposure photographs of passing traffic to create stunning abstract compositions of glowing vehicle taillight trails streaking across your frame.
Essential Equipment Recommendations:
