What you'll learn in this figure drawing class:

Explore fluidity and movement in figure drawing using your whole body, not just your hand, and learn to capture a pose quickly—with energy!

In this workshop, you will be introduced to the history of gesture drawing and why it is fundamental to drawing and illustrating the human form. Learn how to turn a simple stick figures into a fully-expressed ones in less than 30 seconds using a variety of drawing materials.

Students will walk away with loose sketches that can be used as references or to further develop at home and a few, fully finished drawings. Gain new understandings of figure drawing and see that capturing the body is not about the details but the big picture—the gesture!

  • Instructor will supply charcoal, charcoal pencils, ink, and brushes.
  • Students must buy a large 18x24 inch smooth newsprint pad and a drawing board with clips.
