Discover some of the southland’s finest chocolate candy makers and the basics of bean-to-bar chocolate making in a relaxed, daylong journey. All the while, you will be able to indulge your own chocolate obsessions and make gift purchases for family and friends.
Led by choc-holic John Powers, you will begin your day at Milla Chocolates, a ultra-contemporary chocolate candy maker whose architectural designs and contemporary flavors will amaze and delight you. Next, discover another the contemporary chocolate candy maker at andSons Chocolatiers. Here, the candies are like jewels. And don’t overlook the ceiling mural that tells tale of cacao!
Afterwards, there will be an exploration of the Swiss tradition at Teuscher Chocolates, a global brand that ensures consistency by regular air delivery from Europe. Here also you will be amazed at the wide variety of candy delights, the décor, and the hand-crafted gift boxes. Next, at the long-standing Edelweiss Chocolates, you will be overwhelmed by a cornucopia of chocolate candies and other sweet delights. This store/factory was the inspiration for the memorable “I Love Lucy” candy episode.
Taking time out for lunch on your own at the comfortable La Scala Restaurant (and an espresso or a glass of wine if you are so inclined), engage in conversation with your excursion companions to discover what has brought them to this unique journey. After lunch, the exploration will continue at Letterpress Chocolate, a bean-to-bar factory, where you will discover and taste the intricacies of fine cacao from around the globe’s “chocolate belt.” These chocolatiers, who process their own cacao beans, will take you into their factory and show you how every step of the chocolate-making process is done on site.
The factory tour requires attendees to wear closed-toe shoes and to not wear perfume, cologne, or heavy-scented lotions/oils.
