What you'll learn in this skin care class:

Come learn how to make four amazing healing skincare products. They are perfect to add to your skincare line/business or to make for yourself. We will be using plants (dried botanicals, nut and seed butters, plant oils, essential oils and culinary ingredients). These are some of the most popular, high-margin and most loved products by our own customers!

(Newly added bonus - Marla is now including an additional two-hour recorded class as supplemental learning. There's not a requirement to watch the recorded class prior to the hands-on workshop. Students will receive link to the recorded class within 48 hours of registration.)

In this popular class, students will learn how to make bestselling products to add to their indie beauty business or to make and give as gifts to family members and friends. Come experience a connection with powerful, healing plants and learn how you can deepen your connection with them too. Marla Bosworth, who has been creating skincare products for 24 years, says this class is a much-needed, gentle pause in our busy lives that allows us to gather and create intentional, meaningful and conscious wellness products.

Marla will share her own personal story of how her journey of working with plants began in childhood, as it does for many of us. Working with organic plant materials from the earth - albeit rich organic plant carrier oils/butters or wildcrafted or organic dried botanicals - and infusing them into healing skincare products for ourselves and others can be a "return to wholeness" that is much needed in the busyness of the outer world these days. Plants bring their healing energetic wisdom in addition to their physical healing properties to what we make with them.

Students will also learn botanical/herb identifying skills and tools, safe practices, how to to incorporate healing herbs into skincare products, customizing recipes and much more. Students receive a valuable class handout, recipes that are made in class, and sage formulation and business advice from Marla.

This class is taught by Marla Bosworth of Back Porch Soap Company. She will share her expertise in formulating plant-based skincare products. You'll learn the essentials of formulating products made in class as well as the healing properties of plant carrier oils, herbs and wildcrafted botanicals. Students will learn how to ethically and sustainably harvest wildcrafted botanicals and where to purchase.

This is intended for aromatherapists, massage therapists, spa owners, handmade soap and indie beauty entrepreneurs and for anyone who wants to make incredibly good-for-your-body products. No prior experience is necessary. Students will learn best packaging options for each product we make as well as how to properly label each product.

We'll be making four herbal products. Each product is made without water or preservatives. We will discuss optional preservatives for selling products. Students will take home full-size products we make in class from scratch:

Organic Lip Balm ($8 retail value)
Organic Herbal Body Scrub ($20 retail value)

This class is open to beginners through advanced beauty makers. Students will receive a class handout that includes instructions, formulas and a valuable list of Marla's favorite places to buy materials, supplies and equipment.

Refund Policy

A student may cancel within 24 hours of registering for a full refund. This excludes same-day class signups. (For example, if you sign up on a Tuesday for a class that starts the same day you are not eligible for a refund.) After 24 hours of registration, we do not offer refunds or class transfers due to our event rental space and travel situation. If for some reason our class is cancelled (this has only been due to major snowstorms), we will promptly refund your registration in its entirety.
