PoliciesPrice Match GuaranteeIf you find a similar event with a competitor at a lower price, we’ll gladly match it. This applies to events of comparable description and duration. Simply provide the details when booking, or within 72 hours of your booking, and we’ll ensure you get the best value. Contact an event concierge to get started. Cancellation PolicyBookings are non-refundable – but they may be transferred to another group prior to your scheduled event, subject to the requirements outlined below. If you need to change your date, please provide as much notice as possible — ideally at least one week. If you want to give your rebooking credit to another group, we will honor that. We ask that, if you need to rebook, you do so within one year of the original booking. Rebooking or Transfer Notice Requirements: If you request to postpone or transfer your event with fewer than 72 hours’ notice, a rebooking premium of $150 per 20 participants will apply, calculated proportionally (e.g., $225 for 30 participants, $300 for 40, etc.). A minimum fee of $150 will apply for groups smaller than 20 participants. Participants may be added to your booking at any time prior to the event. Additional charges will apply based on the current rate per participant, due before the event begins. We plan and staff our events based on the confirmed participant count provided in advance, so all final numbers must be established prior to the event. We do not conduct headcounts on-site or adjust the final cost based on actual attendance. Once an event has taken place, no portion of the booking is transferrable or eligible for future credit. Outdoor events may be moved indoors for any reason, including inclement weather, pending availability. We request at least 24 hours’ notice for any change of hunt selection. If a museum hunt is selected, museum admission is sold separately. In the event of a force majeure — such as a public transportation shutdown, city-wide emergency, or government-issued order advising people to stay home — your event will be rescheduled to a mutually agreed future date. |

Race through the museum's extraordinary corridors, uncovering hidden facts and remarkable details about the origins of life, the age of dinosaurs, Earth's geological history, marine diversity, space exploration, and ancient civilizations. Every exhibit holds secrets waiting to be found by teams paying close enough attention.
In a thrilling competition against time and other teams, you will uncover:

Our American Museum of Natural History scavenger hunt is a test of strategy, collaboration, and sharp observation skills. Teams must work together, stay alert in every direction, and solve clues that could be hidden anywhere throughout the museum.
Important note: The museum occasionally hosts special events that may affect access to certain exhibits. We make every effort to accommodate, but these changes are beyond our control. Secret City operates as an independent third-party activity provider and does not represent the museum. Please check the museum's event calendar when selecting your date. Museum admission is separate from our booking fee.
Regarding admission: Admission is not included in our service fee. As of recent policy, the museum has required timed entry reservations. Secret City can assist with group reservations of 20 or more participants at a discounted rate. Smaller groups may purchase their own museum admission independently.
How it works: We organize, staff, and manage all aspects of the hunt. Choose a date, time, and participant count, and we handle everything from there. Upon booking confirmation, we stay in close contact and address any questions or special requests leading up to the event.
Before the hunt, our staff reaches out to your group leader to confirm all logistics.
On the day: We are ready at the designated time and location, forming teams of 4 to 5 participants. Pre-arranged teams are welcome.
Introduction: Following team formation, we explain the rules. This is a competition, and one team will win. Groups must stick together, follow bold clues, and work collaboratively. The hunt has a maximum duration of 2 hours, with early finishing permitted. Points are earned through clue completion and challenge success, with ties broken by arrival order.
Each group receives its clue packet and materials. The race begins. Teams move through the museum's exhibits together, working through clues and navigating the collections strategically. Our staff is available throughout for guidance and assistance.
As the hunt concludes, teams reconvene at the endpoint for score tallying, winner announcements, and prize distribution. We are available afterward to answer questions and discuss any memorable moments from the adventure.
The hunt is designed to work equally well for lifelong New Yorkers and first-time visitors. Clues are calibrated to be genuinely challenging without becoming obscure - the right balance for a competitive team event that keeps every participant engaged from first clue to last. Prizes can be arranged for the winning team, and our staff is available after the hunt to discuss any clues and answer questions.
