Description

This camp is dedicated to various aspects of painting with the most popular painting media: acrylics or oils (students can choose), plus an intro on watercolor.

By the end of this camp students will learn to asses the desired color by mixing, correctly represent lighting, texture and proportions of objects, strengthen their knowledge of color theory and human anatomy, and bring home a complicated still life (morning students), a creative self portrait (noon students) or both (full day students).

This camp will teach you:

Similarities and differencies between acrylic and oil painting methods
Color mixing and brushwork
Color theory
Perscpective (linear and areal)
Composition
Working with a reference

Detailed Schedule

Day 1

9:00am-12:00pm. Intro to color theory: primary and secondary colors, opposite/ complementary colors, color temperature, tints and shades. Obtaining a desired color by mixing. Compositional sketches of a large still life. Beginning underdrawing on a large canvas.
12:30pm-3:30pm. Intro to human anatomy. Intro to color theory (for students that join at noon). Compositional sketches for creative self portrait. Beginning underdrawing on a large canvas.

Day 2

9:00am-12:00pm. Intro on pre- and post- impressionist styles of still life painting. Finalizing underdrawing and starting painting a still life.
12:30pm-3:30pm. Intro on pre- and post- impressionist styles of portrait painting. Finalizing underdrawing and starting painting a portrait.

Day 3

9:00am-12:00pm. Detailed shading of still life objects, loose painting of background and folds.
12:30pm-3:30pm. Detailed shading of facial features, loose painting of background and hair.

Day 4

9:00am-12:00pm. Finalizing a still life. Intro on watercolor technique. Starting a final project of a choice.
12:30pm-3:30pm. Finalizing a portrait. Intro on watercolor technique (for students that join at noon). Starting a final project of a choice.

Day 5

9:00am-12:00pm & 12:30pm-3:30pm. Final project of a choice.

Refund Policy

We do not provide refunds for ongoing classes tuition, courses or camps payments.

However, full credit towards future booking or transfer to another camp/course will be offered for any cancellations made up to 2 business days before the camp or course starts.
Ongoing classes can be canceled with a 31 business days prior notice.

You can make up a missed class on another day when we offer the same age/skill group class. The make-up class should be arranged in advance, no drop-ins. Limit 2 make-up classes per month. Make-up classes are subject to the availability of space in a similar class. We reserve the right not to provide make-up classes or terminate the class enrollment for repeating truancy.
