What you'll learn in this dye class:

Shibori is a Japanese dyeing technique that involves folding, twisting or bunching cloth and binding it, then dyeing it in indigo. In stitch-resist shibori, beautiful patterns are created by using a running stitch using needle and thread -- the stitches resist the dye, creating beautiful patterns and color variations.

In this workshop, you'll learn stitching methods to create amazing shibori results. You will learn different stitching techniques as you plan and sew your own unique stitched pattern, After the stitching of a piece is completed, the cloth is drawn into tight gathers, along the stitched thread(s), and secured by knotting. you'll dye your piece in indigo dye, then remove the stitches to reveal your one-of-a-kind results.

Shibori dyeing is truly an amazing craft, as every piece you dye is a little bit of a mystery. The process of stitching the fabric is very meditative after which you will dye it and remove the stitches to reveal the organic results.
