Description
What you'll learn in this writing class:
Spend a weekend near the beach getting words on the page and learning to write better scenes. Writers of all genres welcome, but we will focus on writing better scenes for fiction and memoir writers.
- Get words on the page
- Learn to write better scenes through writing exercises
- Learn the biggest mistakes I see in manuscripts
- Make new writing friends
- Get personal feedback on a scene or short story, up to 10 pages that you submit in advance
- Personal attention – limited to 8 attendees
Schedule:
Friday Evening Reception, 6:30 pm (Optional)
- Reception from 6:30 - 8:00pm
- Location TBA in Carlsbad, CA
- I've made the reception optional in case you don't want to arrive on a Friday.
Saturday 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
- 9:00 am - 11:30 am - Get words on the page through writing exercises designed to improve your scene work.
- 11:30 am - 12:00 pm - Personal writing time.
- 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm - Lunch break (lunch is not provided but there are lots of local options or you can bring a lunch).
- 01:00 pm - 02:00 pm: 3-Act Structure lecture
- 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm Get words on the page through writing exercises designed to improve your scene work and Q & A
Sunday 9:00 am - 1:30 pm
- 9:00 am - 10:30 am: Get words on the page through writing exercises designed to improve your scene work.
- 10:30 am - 1:30 pm: Personal writing time and one-on-one 30-minute meetings to get feedback on your writing.
Refund Policy
Since we have a variety of services, we have different refund policies for each service, but we reserve the right to deduct registration and/or bank fees for each refund.
ONLINE & IN-PERSON WORKSHOPS
For one-day workshops:
- You must cancel 2 business days in advance of the workshop to receive a refund less 5% cancellation fee. The sooner you let us know, the better so that we can fill your seat.
- If you tell us less than 2 business days before the start of the workshop, we will, on special occasions, allow you to roll over your registration to a future workshop.
For multiple-week workshops (workshops that meet more than once):
- You must cancel 8 business days before the day the workshop begins. The sooner you let us know, the better.
ONLINE EMAIL COURSES, AUDIO COURSES & WRITING CHALLENGES
There are no refunds for online email workshops, audio courses, and online writing challenges. However, we may be able to roll your registration fee over to another workshop or a comparable coaching session.
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
