What you'll learn in this silver class:Students are familiarized with basic studio tools and fabrication techniques for working in sterling silver.
This class is a fun, fast-paced introduction to creating handmade jewelry. Students are encouraged to explore creativity within design parameters while learning the fundamentals of technique to allow for construction of new jewelry ideas. Soldering, sawing and filing shapes, forming and joining, ring sizing, polishing and basic stone setting will be practiced in class.
They include a tour of the jewelry district and a complete list of trade references and supplier resources to provide the new student with a full introduction to the jewelry industry. Small class sizes are perfect for both absolute beginners or those looking to refresh their skills.
Bench Time: Open bench time is available to use the studio and to make up missed classes. Tools, machines, silver solder and flux are all available. Some Sunday bench times will be cancelled due to weekend workshops, but the Studio will send notifications out in advance. Bring your own metal and ideas.
Note: After enrolling, you will receive a detailed list of tools required for this class. On average, these cost about $60.
Cancellation PolicyFull refund (less 5% processing fee) up to 2 weeks before the start date. Cancellation within two weeks will receive a studio credit redeemable for one year.

Caroline is a self-taught artisan with over twelve years of experience in hand-crafted jewelry. Her teaching experience includes workshops at the 92nd street Y in Manhattan, and at the Arts Workshop Program at the Newark Museum in New Jersey.
