What you'll learn in this intro to programming class:

In this 5-day course, students will learn the basics of computer programming through the use of Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 and either the Visual C# or Visual Basic programming languages.

Target Audience

This course is intended for anyone who is new to software development and wants, or needs, to gain an understanding of programming fundamentals and object-oriented programming concepts. They will typically be high school students, post-secondary school students, or career changers, with no prior programming experience. They might want to gain an understanding of the core programming fundamentals before moving on to more advanced courses such as 20483B: Programming in C#.

Course Objectives

Explain core programming fundamentals such as computer storage and processing.
Explain computer number systems such as binary.
Create and use variables and constants in programs.
Explain how to create and use functions in a program.
Create and use decisions structures in a computer program.
Create and use repetition (loops) in a computer program.
Explain pseudocode and its role in programming.
Explain the basic computer data structures such as arrays, lists, stacks, and queues.
Implement object-oriented programming concepts.
Create and use classes in a computer program.
Implement encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism.
Describe the base class library (BCL) in the .NET Framework.
Explain the application security concepts.
Implement simple I/O in a computer program.
Identify application errors and explain how to debug an application and handle errors.
Identify the performance considerations for applications.

Refund Policy

If it becomes necessary to reschedule or cancel a registered class, students must provide advance notice in writing to the Educational Consultant five business days prior to the start of the class. For rescheduling purposes, this action will allow the student to select an alternate class without penalty.

If a student withdraws from the institution on or before the first class day, or fails to begin a class, the refund shall equal the sum of all amounts paid or to be paid by or on behalf of the student for the program, less an administrative fee of $100.00.
If after a class has begun and before the expiration of 10% of their program for which he or she was charged, a student withdraws, drops out, or otherwise fails to attend classes, the refund shall equal 75% of all amounts paid or to be paid by or on behalf of the student for the program, less a $100 administrative fee per course.
If after expiration of 10% of the program for which he or she was charged, and before expiration of 25% of the period, a student withdraws, drops out or otherwise fails to attend classes, the refund shall equal 25% of all amounts paid or to be paid on behalf of the student for the program, less administrative fee of $100 per course. If after expiration of 25% of the program for which he or she was charged, a student withdraws, drops out or otherwise fails to attend classes, the student may be deemed obligated for 100% of the tuition, fees and other charges assessed by the institution.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
