Discover the Best Web Design Classes in Houston

Web designers design and create websites using a combination of different elements such as text, graphics, photos, videos, and animations. They often have coding skills, however, web design is typically focused on the aesthetic elements of a website rather than the code that makes the site work. Web developers, not web designers, are usually the ones who work with the code and other technical elements that are not visible on the site, but are crucial to its functioning. Web designers can work alone, or as part of a team. They often utilize apps like Photoshop to create website elements.

Houston Industries That Use Web Design

Web designers work in almost every Houston industry, because websites have become an essential part of doing business. Surveys show that the majority of businesses now have their own website, and that people often look at a website before they call a company, or visit it in person. The quality of a website is important too, and skilled web designers are in high demand. In a recent Forbes article, the author reports that 88 percent of online users won’t come back to a site if they have a bad experience there, and 61 percent say that if they can’t find what they want within about 5 seconds of being on a site, they will simply go elsewhere.

Many large national companies that need web designers have offices in Houston, including a number of large financial companies like JPMorgan Chase & Co and Wells Fargo, and tech firms like Microsoft and IBM. According to the Greater Houston Partnership, Houston also ranks third among all U.S. cities for having the most Fortune 500 company headquarters. Fortune 500 companies headquartered there include ExxonMobil, Phillips 66, ConocoPhillips, and Sysco.

Web Design Jobs & Salaries in Houston

It finds that web development and digital design jobs will increase by 23 percent between 2021 and 2031, which is much faster than the average rate of only 5 percent, and makes web design a good career choice. The agency says it expects more than 20,000 job openings in this category over this period of time. It explains that one of the main reasons for the predicted growth in web design jobs is the continuing increase in e-commerce, stating, “As retail firms keep increasing their online offerings, demand for these workers is expected to grow.” The agency also reports, “The continued use of mobile devices to search the web is expected to generate demand for web developers and digital designers to create websites and interfaces that work on mobile devices with many different screen sizes.”
