Join our photo lessons in LoDo, which is one of the excellent locales in the rotation of many Denver venues that offer terrific photo opportunities.
LoDo, or the Lower Downtown Historic District, is one of the hottest, hippest spots in Denver. What makes LoDo so appealing is that it is one of the oldest spots in Denver, so it is full of rich history and classic architecture, and that it has been preserved and treasured by those who frequent LoDo. Join your Digital Photo Academy instructor as you blur the distinction between ‘old’ and’new.’
LoDo has just about everything you could need, from a performing arts center to museums to a baseball club to parks and gardens. The attractions are not the only places where you find diversity though. The architecture, people, and even street life depending on the time of day demonstrate how exciting and different each element of LoDo is. Such diverse features help create unique, memorable, and interesting images.
LoDo offers a wide array of subjects and colors to shoot. Photograph the brick buildings against the blue sky, the bridges and monuments that help define LoDo as a venue, and locals and tourists alike out exploring and enjoying the day. Close in on a vintage car or back up and use a wide-angle lens to shoot a street scene.
Your Instructor will teach you new techniques and ideas to explore in the class and on your own with your camera. Find ways to juxtapose old and new for an interesting interpretation of history, discover new angles in old locations, and see how the use of color can enhance or detract from your image.
Rustic metal juxtaposed to smooth wood is what makes for beautiful urban landscapes. Use the various textures and shapes in your photography and a can convey a mood in your work.
Please bring your DSLR or another type of digital camera that you use, a fully-charged battery, and the equipment that you can carry. You should dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Each Composition in the Field class begins with a talk with one of our experienced instructors, and then you and your fellow students take a stroll through one of a variety of photogenic locales (in any of the 20+ cities the DPA encapsulates). There is street photography, magnificent interiors, farmers markets, zoos, landscapes, and more, photos of which are included within. These photos are a mix of student and instructor images in many different venues and cities across the United States and Canada.
You will have fun in the three hour session, learn to shoot strategically, get more interesting photos of the event, and walk away with a foundation to improve your photographs in the future, whether you’re traveling, or at a birthday party and everywhere in between.
