Join our photography sessions at Ketring Park, one of the finest and most varied shooting locations in the Digital Photo Academy's rotation of Denver-area venues.
Spread across 55 lush acres, Ketring Park is an outdoor photographer's ideal setting. The landscape offers a remarkable range of natural photo opportunities: placid water reflections, grazing geese, small cascading waterfalls, wildflowers, abstract textures in wood and stone, fishermen along the banks, cyclists on the paths, and water surface abstractions that reward both creative and technical exploration. Your DPA instructor will guide you through shutter speed and aperture control so you can make the most of every subject the park offers.
After time in the natural landscape, the class steps back in time with a visit to the Littleton Museum, located directly on the Ketring campus. This living history site encompasses two working farm sites: an 1860s homestead farm and a 1890s turn-of-the-century urban farm, both of which illustrate how people lived and worked in Colorado's earliest years. Museum staff and volunteers in period-appropriate dress work the land, tend animals, and demonstrate the craft of a fully operational blacksmith shop. Six historic buildings provide rich opportunities for architectural photography, texture studies, and abstract compositions. A period-decorated interior house adds another layer of photographic possibility.

Admission is free, and parking is plentiful. If the main lot fills up, additional parking is available at the library directly across the street.

Each Composition in the Field class opens with an instructor briefing, followed by a guided walk through one of more than 20 photogenic locations across the DPA's network of cities. The program encompasses street photography, stunning interiors, farmers' markets, zoo subjects, landscapes, and much more. Sample images are drawn from both student and instructor work across the US and Canada.
You'll enjoy every minute of the three-hour session, develop a more strategic approach to photography, and walk away with practical skills that improve every photo you take, whether you're on vacation, celebrating a milestone, or simply out with your camera on a free afternoon.
Please note that if a class must be canceled due to weather or other circumstances beyond our control, we will happily work with you to reschedule. If you need to cancel and would like a new class date, please contact us. A $25 transfer fee applies when notice is given fewer than three days before the scheduled class.
