Best QuickBooks Classes & Schools in Houston

If you’re living in Houston, you’ll find a number of different QuickBooks class options. The University of Houston Small Business Development Center runs QuickBooks classes in person, in a location about ten minutes west of downtown Houston. QuickBooks Online is a one-day class that costs $79. It is designed for beginners, however, students should have some familiarity with basic bookkeeping principles. Participants learn how to get started using QuickBooks, including tracking sales and expenses and backing up data. They also learn about the time-saving features and other benefits of using this program.

Houston Community College also offers a QuickBooks class. This class runs in a live online format, and tuition is $595. It covers a range of different QuickBooks skills such as setting up a new company, setting up vendors and customers, and setting up payroll. Participants also learn how to enter and pay bills, write checks, create invoices, receive payments, make deposits, and pay sales tax.

Students who are open to learning online will also find live online classes through New York City-based Career Centers, which offers QuickBooks Level I, a six-hour class that covers basic QuickBooks skills. In this class, students learn to create a company, customize a company file, work with vendors and customers, conduct banking, and understand reconciliation. Training is in a project-based form, and students also get the option to do a free retake within a year. Tuition is $229. Careers Centers also offers a Level II QuickBooks course.

Another QuickBooks training option is an ONLC Training Centers class. ONLC is an IT training school that was founded in 1983. QuickBooks Online QuickStart Course is designed for beginners and runs for one day. Tuition is $395. The syllabus for this class includes setting up a new company file, working with customers, working with vendors, entering transactions, and working with bank accounts. Students who want to take the class should have a basic understanding of accounting. ONLC Training also offers a higher-level course called QuickBooks Online Advanced, which covers advanced QuickBooks skills such as tracking inventory, working with balance sheets and budgets, the accounting cycle, using payroll, and dealing with credits, returns, taxes, and refunds. This class also costs $395. 

The Digital Workshop Center also runs a variety of QuickBooks classes. QuickBooks Online for Beginners is in a live online format. It has three sessions, with an average class size of six people, and tuition is $1,406. Students who take this class will learn the essentials of QuickBooks, including the basics of small business accounting, setting up a company file, creating a chart of accounts, entering products and services, recording common transactions, creating estimates and invoices for customers, entering and paying bills, and writing checks. Students learn by working in a sample company file, and instructors help them learn best practices and avoid common mistakes.
