In this class, students will learn the basics of wheel throwing including centering, pulling the walls, and moral support to make a functional piece. No experience is required. All materials and equipment are included in this class. After class, your creations are to dry for a few days followed by being placed in the kiln for the first of two firings. Once the kiln cools, your piece is unloaded, packaged, and ready for pick up. If you do decide to make a functional piece please note that all of our glazes and clay bodies are food safe. Most students tend to make their own cup, bowl, or plate.
Sculpture in the park is our beginner hand-building class. No experience is required to take this class. An instructor will demonstrate and guide your group through the process of slipping and scoring along with other techniques such as coil building and slab building. What is created is up to the guests, and most students tend to make small tea cups and vessels. All materials, tools, and firings are included.
