No experience is required, and all materials and equipment are provided.

Your instructor will walk you through the three pillars of wheel throwing: centering the clay, opening the form, and pulling up the walls to create a stable, even vessel. Most students leave with between one and three pieces, depending on scale. After class, your work begins the drying and firing process: a two-stage kiln cycle that takes clay to a full vitrification temperature of 2167 degrees Fahrenheit, producing a durable, finished ceramic. Once your pieces are unloaded and cooled, you will have your pick from over 20 glaze options, ranging from matte to glossy and spanning a full spectrum of colors, including blue, red, yellow, brown, black, and more. All glazes and clay bodies used are food safe, making cups, bowls, and plates entirely suitable for everyday use.

Event Itinerary:

The class begins with a short 15-minute demonstration by an instructor on the technical aspects of clay and how to create the structure and form that students aim to make.
Followed by everyone creating their own individual piece. Depending on the scale of the piece, students tend to leave with 1-3 creations. If they choose to focus on a larger form, then 1 piece.
The last 10 minutes of the session account for clean-up time. Once clean-up time is done, each student gets to choose a glaze of their choice.
There are over 20 glaze options to choose from, ranging from matte to glossy, blue, red, yellow, brown, black, and more.
