You will start by learning to view and navigate the structure of a database, including tables, columns, and rows, then progress step by step to writing queries that retrieve precisely the data you need. From there, you will learn to filter and sort results, group data for summary analysis, and combine information from multiple related tables using JOIN statements. Advanced topics include aggregate functions, window functions, subqueries, and parameterized user-defined functions for more modular query design.

All practice takes place in PostgreSQL using DBeaver, a popular and completely free database management tool widely used by developers and data analysts. The SQL skills you build here apply directly to other SQL platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and others, with only minor syntax differences between them.
