Description

Modern calligraphy combines traditional letterforms with a freer, personal style.

Learn modern calligraphy and brush lettering, using brush pens or Crayola markers to create thick and thin strokes.

No experience is required. Use your skills for cards, invitations, signs or everyday handwriting.

Throughout this workshop, your group will master:

  • Selection and proper use of lettering tools and implements
  • Basic strokes of modern brush lettering by practicing the 8 fundamental strokes, which form the foundation for creating custom letters
  • Composition methods for both uppercase and lowercase letters
  • Techniques for connecting letters to form complete words and phrases
  • Professional tips and tricks for perfecting your lettering skills
  • Practice connecting letters and review challenging letter combinations
  • Introduction to bouncing techniques and flourishes for added elegance

    No fault of the instructor,—because the 1st Saturday class was changed to Sunday, that stuck in my mind and I missed the 2nd class—thinking it would be Sunday as well. Although Jade made it clear it would be the following Saturday. But I was tuning in from out of town, so everything was a little thrown off for me. Anyway, I missed the second class.
